Quilt Sculptor

Simply Quilts visit the studio of Kay Khan, an artist who makes sculpted quilt vases. By heavily stitching the fabric, Kay forms stiff panels that she "sculpts" into three-dimensional objects.

Kay describes her technique as "stitching with a lot of layers." It’s a different approach because she is not piecing. She says, "It’s like using mosaic and I can cut it and piece it back together and construct it."
