For proper pressing of seams in a quilt top:
- Use a firm pressing surface for pressing pieces.
- Always press pieced segments right side up to avoid tucks.
- Use a surface with some "give" when pressing applique (try placing a clean towel on your pressing surface).
- Always press on applique wrong side up.
