Steps:1. Condition clay: Flatten 1 oz. of black clay on #3 (medium setting) on the pasta maker. Make an irregular shape.
2. Using 1 oz. each of beige and white clay, mix the two colors and repeat step 1 (figure A).
3. Apply liquid polymer over entire surface (front and back) of a piece of Kozo paper. Place on beige/white clay (figure B).
4. To make the weave, put 2 oz. of conditioned black clay through the pasta machine on a #3 (medium setting).
5. Cut about 30 strips 1/4 inch wide. Place the strips on another solid piece of black clay (#3 setting). Weave the strips (figures C and D).
6. Apply copper/gold Pulver over the weave (figures E and F).
7. Cut edges. Place the weave over the other layered clay.
8. To make the flower, make small petals out of a small piece of white conditioned clay. Use a needle tool to put lines through petals (figure G).
9. Attach the petals onto a small flattened piece of white clay. Layer the petals to form flower (figure H).
10. Add a small piece of yellow clay in the center of the flower and poke with needle tool to texture.
11. Make a small leaf with green clay (figure I).
12. Place the flower onto the weave.
13. Bake the entire piece in oven at 265 F degrees for 30 minutes.
14. Embellish with bamboo sticks, pearls and charms.
15. Place entire piece onto the wire mesh and glue to Shikishi board (figure J). Place in shadow box.
