Steps:1. Cut aluminum slightly larger than template. Use scissors or a table top lever-style paper cutter (figure A).
2. Place on piercing mat. Attach stencil to the four corners of the foil with artist's tape (figure B).
3. Using the piercing tool make holes following the template pattern (figure C).
4. Carefully remove tape and cut foil to size. Remove self-adhesive backing on foil and add strong double-side sticky tape.
Note: Additional adhesive is required in this project due to the pierced holes in the foil (figure D). Normally extra adhesive is not required as the self-adhesive aluminum is very strong.
5. Adhere collage picture to center panel. Color centers of flowers with permanent markers (figure E).
6. Using two threads of embroidery thread and the holes provided, outline petals with a back stitch (figure F).
7. Place rhinestones on small flower designs (figure G).
Tips:
When piercing the metal, rotate the tool slightly before pulling it out of the foil. It will come out easier and will also leave a smoother hole for sewing later.
In addition to collage pictures, add rub-on transfers, stickers, photographs etc.
For a translucent finish, use alcohol-based pens rather than permanent ones. Acrylics can also be painted onto the metal foils.
To check if you have pierced all the areas, hold the foil up to the light.
All metals can be cut with scissors or a tabletop paper trimmer.
