More products for scrapbooking? I continue to express my doubt that it's possible and my amazement when it is. So once again, we have a segment devoted entirely to some of the more-recent products designed especially for use in scrapbooking. Too bad the table isn't bigger and the time longer.
How would it be possible for anyone to come up with new scrapbooking papers? Well, the folks at Petite Motifs did, and that is exactly what they are — pages filled with petite motifs. So no matter how small an area you want to use, you can be sure you will have a complete motif to add to your scrapbook — and not something that looks as if it is a small part of a whole.
Next is a product that actually blends two favorite craft pastimes together. From Wimple Street Creations is a new line of kits called Scrap Stitch Kits. Each has a different theme and contains several pieces of aida cloth with crocheted borders, so they are already finished off. Also included is a needle, a pattern and sufficient embroidery floss to complete the counted cross-stitch pieces. All were intended for use in your scrapbook pages.
And there were more new papers from Black and Tan Tales. The few sheets I showed featured puppy prints, dog bones, and dogs in all different sizes and breeds. There were embellishments of large card stock dog bones, and dog bone stencils, and all were made to either put in a few pages of your scrapbook or in this company's scrapbooks made for the pets in the family. The Puppy Scrapbook that I showed had pages for specific pictures, as well as places to journal in your dog's tricks, habits and stages of growth. These pages are very cute, very funny and perfect for the real dog lover.
From Chatterbox comes a whole new approach to decorating your scrapbook. They have come out with what they call their home decorating line, with color swatches that make you think you've picked them up at the paint store. These indicate the different color schemes, and they have a number of color palettes for their various "foundation" pages. The pages have "frames" that are embossed. They are perfect for your pictures or for framing any copy or embellishments you might wish to add. Of course they have "wallpaper" pages, which are also color-coordinated, and to give you even more choices, each page features a coordinating color scheme on the back. Even a few patterned vellum pages are included. The color palettes are suggested for different areas of your home. Instead of borders for your pages, they have "molding for your rooms."
ColorBok has a number of new dimensional embellishments for your memory pages. Called Sue Dreamer 3-D Embellishments, they have a wide variety of subjects. These are cards filled with a number of miniature items, all sticky-backed so you can just place them where appropriate in your scrapbook, and there they'll stay. As part of their Doo-Dad line, there are buttons on scraps of handmade paper, metal designs, and more small items to add interest and dimension to your pages.
Charmed Frames is the name given to these small metal frames from Making Memories. While these were designed to give importance and a very classy look to those whom you choose to frame in your scrapbook pages, you might find a number of places for them outside the book as well. They are sticky-backed, so they will stay where you put them.
You have succeeded in making your pages dimensional, now how in the world will you ever get them to slide into the protective plastic covers that many of you use? No problem. C-Line Products has come out with a Sheet Horn. In case you have not yet acquainted yourself with a sheet horn, it does for lumpy scrapbook pages what a shoe horn does for your feet — it helps you get the page into the sheet protector by slipping into the protector and spreading it apart to make room. Different sizes are available to accommodate different sized pages, and it really works.
