Mixed Media Greeting Card

Materials and Tools:

ready-made image
glue
card stock
paper towel
rubber stamp
ink
handmade mango leaf paper
gold thread
sewing machine (optional)
watercolors
soft semi-gloss acrylic gel medium
scissors
paint brush

Steps:

1. Cut or tear image so there is an interesting decorative edge. Glue image on to card stock. Make sure that the glue evenly coats the paper image. Press a paper towel on the paper image to make sure that all air bubbles from the glue are gone. Let dry for a few minutes.

2. Stamp underneath the image.

3. Tear strips of the handmade mango leaf paper for both sides, top and bottom. Try not to make perfect edges. The tear makes another artistic visual statement. Glue down. With this paper, you'll notice that just a bit of glue is needed because the paper is thin and the glue seeps through the paper. Let dry for a few minutes.

4. Take a look at your design and see if it needs a bit of tweaking here or there.

5. Stitch around the edge of the glued image with gold thread using a zigzag stitch or any interesting stitch your machine has to offer. Then stitch around the green mango leaf paper in another stitch if you wish. This different stitch just adds a bit of visual interest.
