Quilting expert Alex Anderson provides advice for the following question from a viewer.

"Sometimes it isn't feasible to always press to the dark fabric, and sometimes I want to press open the seams in order to eliminate bulk at the intersections. Is there a formula for such problems?"

Quilt expert Alex Anderson explains that pressing to the dark fabric is a sufficient solution for a simple pattern and is taught in many quilt piecing classes. However, for more complicated patterns such as stars, you have to consider ease in construction to achieve perfect tips and points.
