Viewer Barbara Hammond asks Alex Anderson, "What advice would you give to a beginning quilter so that the first quilting project is not so overwhelming that a person gets discouraged and quits?"
Here's Alex's advice:
* Begin with a small project--a wall hanging or baby quilt.
* Find a simple, stripped pattern consisting of squares and rectangles–a rail fence is great beginner block–save triangles for future projects.
* Start with basic tools–a sewing machine in good running order, a rotary mat, a sharp rotary cutter and a 6"x12" ruler.
