Mark Spots for Dowels
On all the horizontal lines, mark the center. For this project, center is at five inches. Starting at the top horizontal line, mark three inches to the left and to the right from the center mark. Repeat these marks skipping every other horizontal line. On the remaining lines, mark 1-1/2-inches to the left and right from the center mark.
Drill Holes
Using a 3/4-inch drill bit, drill holes where you made all of your marks. Tip: Keep drill holes as straight as possible.
Sand
After removing all the debris, sand the wine rack base, and sand the tips of the dowels.
