1992 – HGTV founder Ken Lowe has an idea for a cable TV network about home renovation and gardening.

December 30, 1994 – HGTV goes on the air reaching 6.5 million homes in 44 markets.

May 1996 – launches.

April 1997 - The first HGTV Dream Home Giveaway receives 1.2 million entries.

October 1997 – HGTV Canada launches.
