Dueling Kitchens from Design Star Challenge 2

For the second Design Star challenge, the designers had to remodel a kitchen. They were separated into two teams, each having 28 work hours and a budget of $10,000 to complete the project.

The replacement of the existing black appliances with new black appliances is problematic for this team. Previously, the black appliances blended more effectively with the dark-wood cabinets. Now, however, the new appliances contrast sharply with the new light cabinets and your eye is drawn to them instantly. White appliances — or preferably stainless — would have contrasted less and allowed the eye to rest on some of the more positive aspects of the room.
