In 2007 HGTV partnered with Rebuilding Together and launched Change the World, Start at Home – a community revitalization initiative that mobilized volunteers and organized building projects for low income homeowners, the elderly, and veterans across the US. Since then, HGTV and Rebuilding Together have helped breathe life into a variety of communities by supporting projects like a 50-home rebuild in New Orleans in remembrance of Hurricane Katrina’s fifth anniversary.
In late 2010, HGTV and sister network DIY joined forces in support of Rebuilding Together and pledged a total of $1 million in cash and $15 million in media support over the next three years, bringing much needed visibility to the organizations’ mission of helping homeowners in need.
HGTV, DIY Network and Rebuilding Together will focus our partnership on a campaign called "Raise a Roof." Through this effort, HGTV and DIY Network enthusiasts will be encouraged to raise their hands, raise their voices and raise support to further Rebuilding Together's mission of helping homeowners in need.
